    Experience and Requirements

    The CPO will have 10 - 15 years or more of overall leadership experience, much of it with a definitive focus on business process improvement and maximizing personnel assets in a service-based operating environment with revenue of $400MM+. The successful candidate will have demonstrated an ability to successfully manage and control fast growth for profitable businesses, and will be highly effective at building, recruiting, retaining and motivating teams. Senior enough to have interfaced with high level clients and agency professionals numerous times and, yet still high-energy and hungry for the next triumph, the successful candidate will be a best-in-class thinker, doer, and leader.

    Hands-on and personally driven, the successful candidate will also be very effective at building consensus and generating excitement and enthusiasm for new initiatives. This person will have a focus and ownership on getting the job and tasks (both short and long term) complete.

    Our new CPO must have excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, and will be particularly strong at building relationships with constituencies both inside and outside the agency. The successful candidate will quickly win the confidence not only of peers, but of every direct report and external client as well.

    Our new CPO must embrace that BDA succeeds or fails based on its ability to create, innovate, and deliver excellent service while showing cost-savings and value for its clients. The CPO must be able to drive the bottom line, focus activities to be a low-cost procurer, and yet be flexible and cognizant enough to understand that this is a people business and servicing our clients.

    A true partner to the CEO and the entire executive team, the CPO will have a capacity for creativity and innovation and a focus on winning in the marketplace.


    Duties & Responsibilities

      • Oversee vendor mapping strategy and guide division on best way to utilize our vendor resources and allocate purchasing dollars.
      • Work closely with operations teams to ensure costing protocols and vendor development is implemented.
      • Continuously refine the BDA Negotiating Culture and best practice refinement
    • Streamline supply chain by continuously assessing and improving inventory management, procurement processes and procedures, and compressing lead-times through data analysis and cross-departmental strategy and alignment. Make recommendation for improvements, and where adopted assist in mapping and implementation.
      • Rank order Preferred Vendors and aggressively work to establish BDA “Most Favored” clauses to assure best price, priority and marketing allocations in line with BDA’s status.
      • Proactively work to understand commodity costs, market analysis, divisional profit analysis / budgetary responsibility.
      • Manage team to focus on key metrics and deliverables.
      • Responsibility to negotiate and continuously improve Preferred Vendor contracts terms and conditions to improve BDA outcomes.
      • Shared accountability for department purchasing and margin improvement including the oversight of large purchase order management through pricing set by sales teams.
      • Exhibit and promote high levels of Spirit of Service (both internal and external customers) to ensure smooth operations and satisfied customers.
      • Understanding/analysis of all key metrics.
      • Ensuring coordination of product testing, factory capability testing and social responsibility between buyer and BDA compliance team
    • Other job duties and projects as assigned.

    • Minimum 15 years merchandising and purchasing experience
    • B.A. Business Administration or equivalent
    • Consumer Products Costing Expertise
    • Knowledge of strategic procurement fundamentals
    • Knowledge of Factory Capabilities, Compliance, and Code of Conduct both in and outside of the US.
    • Working knowledge and proven experience working with importing products


    • Demonstrated success within a multi-tasking, matrix management, cross-functional team environment with changing priorities and dynamic response times
    • P&L ownership/experience
    • Experience with Oracle or similar ERP systems a plus
