Overview

Our talented Program Merchandising Group within BDA— develops, designs, and sources for Fortune 500 clients. From classic to stylish, this team is shaping the styles and looks our clients love for their brand.  The Product Development Designer is an expert on performance apparel with a keen eye for fit and form.  An effective Product Development Designer is experienced, results-oriented and views the business through the lens of the client.

Responsibilities

  • Recognize Brand Awareness and how to interpret this to product/merchandise for client(s)
  • Implement merchandising plans to achieve performance goals for a specific merchandise category/Client Refresh
  • Build and support strong vendor partnerships.
  • Define seasonal, annual and multi-year strategies that identify future opportunities and trends
  • Support merchandising strategy for the company, including alignment of clients/brands and product line
  • Participate in life cycle management (initiate, grow and retire) for multiple categories and/or brands
  • Ensure successful product line presentations to clients
  • Oversee day-to-day activities for product launches/refreshes
  • Take current trends and translate into creative product
  • Deliver product performance results based on strategic goals and budget expectations
  • Assortment planning and catalog merchandise development.
  • Product Assortment Planning for all ecommerce and Catalog Product Lines while partnering with internal program teams
  • Responsible for all sku creation and maintenance.
  • Any additional tasks or projects as assigned from manager

Qualifications

Experience Requirements

3-5 years Product Development experience in custom cut and sew, specifically with performance athletic apparel.

 

Job Skills and Traits:

  • Minimum 5 years of retail buying, merchandising and/or strategic planning experience
  • Minimum 1-2 years management experience
  • Experience initiating, recommending and implementing merchandise strategies
  • Strong understanding of and ability to apply market intelligence
  • Experience in client product presentation, assortment planning, trend analysis, line building, supplier sourcing, and performance analysis.
  • Understanding of retail and the service environment
  • Ability to multi task in high pressure, fast moving environment
  • Must demonstrate working knowledge of gross margin and assortment planning
  • Confidence and Ability to articulate and sell a concept to a business team
  • Fluency in MS Office suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Oracle Experience a plus
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong negotiation skills and team building skills
