Summary

Our talented Program Merchandising Group within BDA— develops, designs, and sources for 25+ Fortune 500 clients. From classic to stylish, this team is shaping the styles and looks our clients love for their brand.
An effective Merchandiser is experienced, results-oriented and views the business through the lens of the client.

Responsibilities

  • Experience in garment engineering
  • Ability to multi task in high pressure, fast moving environment
  • Must demonstrate strong knowledge of garment construction
  • Expert in writing and reading tech packs
  • Must have a deep understanding of fabric content and usage
  • Ability to see inspiration samples and be able to write a tech pack to match specific details of the garment while avoiding IP issues
  • Be able to add measurements and dimensions to custom apparel sketches and drawings
  • Be able to scale sizing both up and down for development of size range
  • Must be able to modify tech packs based on feedback of garment fit
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Strong fabric issue resolution and troubleshooting of fabric related issues
  • Conduct research and analysis on how to reverse engineer innovative fabrics to meet a value proposition
  • Identify key new technologies in textiles, finishes and treatments to enhance quality and performance of fabric.
  • Confidence and Ability to work in a team environment to develop a trend forward retail line of apparel.
  • Athletic wear and athlesuire experience a plus
  • Deliver product performance results based on strategic goals and budget expectations
  • Assortment planning and catalog merchandise development.
  • Strategic planning skills.
  • Must demonstrate working knowledge of assortment planning.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong organization skills

Qualifications

Experience Requirements

 

  • Bachelor's degree in textiles or apparel related field
  • 5 years years of work experience in apparel product creation with a background in material   development, textiles, fabric constructions, yarn and fiber types, and international testing standards.
  • Sound knowledge of garment construction, costing, fabric and manufacturing processes
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong computer skills - MS Office
  • Oracle Experience a plus
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills
