  • Overview

    New Business Development is seeking an experienced supply chain management, sourcing, and negotiating team member. This role is responsible for fiercely negotiating pricing, while working in a fast-paced environment where there are typically 2 - 4 projects running at any given time. This person must be someone who likes to challenge the status quo by pushing suppliers, or seeking new suppliers for better offerings and pricing. This person is also responsible for keeping other internal teams on track during market baskets, and proactively manages timelines to minimize last-minute edits, etc. Crucial skills for success include excel formulas and formatting, strong internal and external relationship building, and strong creative ideation.


    • Savvy and fierce negotiating on market basket products
    • Analyzes market baskets to look for key drivers; works with Supplier Services to nail down NBD key driver pricing in order to create ease of process
    • Works with and updates team with pertinent information which can impact deliverables
    • Owns projects from start to finish and coordinate amoung multiple internal and external parties, keeping deliverables on-track for early delivery to team for final compilation
    • Creates pricing strategies based on inferences from market basket and given information from RFP and industry connections
    • Holds vendors to high standards for pricing, confidentiality, and other services
    • Challenges sourcing network, going outside the network to ensure best pricing possible to give BDA an edge in competitive RFP environments
    • Works upstream to create ease of process downstream during tight timelines
    • Works with suppliers to have illustrations/renders created when needed
    • Ideates with team for solutions to creative scenarios and ABM efforts
    • Stays apprised of latest trends in products and decoration methods, and what’s available in the industry
    • Proactively shares ideas with the team that could be used for potential clients
    • Places and manages all orders for client samples, client gifts, presentation aids, etc.
    • Able to handle multiple responsibilities, and able to prioritize effectively
    • Other job duties and projects as assigned


    Experience Requirements

    • 4-6 years of experience in sales or supporting salespeople – ad specialty/merchandise industries a plus
    • Vendor Management skills – proven ability to deal effectively with vendors, maintain advantageous relationships and negotiate hard
    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with both clients and vendors, and does so in a proven proactive manner

    • Ability to create documents and spreadsheets – Excel formulas and formatting skills crucial

    • Purchasing – strong negotiation skills – ability to meeting tight deadlines
    • Strategic sourcing – ability to think outside the box and source strategically (ie: challenging status quo of approved vendors, sourcing elsewhere to challenge pricing)
    • Multi-tasking – ability to produce goods utilizing one or more vendors
    • Detail Oriented – proactive follow-up and tracking of orders to ensure timely delivery of each component
    • Leadership – ability to manage the sourcing process when utilization of other teams is necessary to complete market baskets, including proactive communication and keeping others on track for deliverables
